Henry's Superfood Coconut Hemp Porridge Review
Henry’s Superfood Coconut Hemp Super Oats review! @henrysuperfood
This is the first I have tried from this intriguing oat range. Combining hemp: a derivative from the cannabis plant which contains lots of healthy fats, minerals, vitamins, the 9 essential amino acids and maybe a bit of the high and coconut which (taken from their website) “are one of the few foods that can be classified as a superfood. It contains alot of medium chain triglycerides, which are metabolised differently to other saturated fats. Coconuts are highly nutritious & are rich in fibre, vitamins C, E, B1, B3, B5 & B6 & the minerals including iron, selenium, sodium, calcium, magnesium & phosphorus” This porridge is by no doubts healthy. But is it healthy for your tastebuds? ..... I won’t leave you guessing: yes it is! The taste of this porridge is predominantly the hemp: sweet, nutty and a tad bitter. The texture takes on the hemp too. It’s sort of crumbly and nutty, though still smooth and obviously not dry as it’s a porridge. Another flavour that is stronger are the spices of cinnamon, mace and nutmeg. The coconut wasn’t there at first, but when I checked and saw it was coconut WATER powder, not regular coconut meat it made sense. It’s not the traditional, creamy coconut flavour you’d expect. The consistency is medium thickness and a little jelly-ish. I popped it in the microwave to thicken it more, but thicker is just my personal preference. 9/10 porridge points
